WHAT IS CONSCIOUS CONNECTED BREATH WORK (CCB)?

Conscious connected breathwork (CCB), is a powerful practice that involves intentionally controlling and deepening the breath in a rhythmic pattern. This technique facilitates a state of deep relaxation and heightened awareness by focusing on the breath as a tool for healing and transformation.

 

Conscious connected breath work is “conscious” because we are consciously controlling it, and “connected” because there is no pause between inhale and exhale.

The theory behind this type of breathwork is to use the breath to activate the sympathetic nervous system while in a supported and safe environment. Allowing you, the breather, to complete unfinished nervous system responses that are stored in your fascia, muscles and cells of your being. It is a bottom up approach to somatic healing. 

WHY TRY CCB?

1. Stress Relief and Relaxation: CCB induces a relaxation response in the body, reducing stress hormones such as cortisol. It promotes a sense of calm and peace, helping to alleviate anxiety and promote overall emotional well-being.

2. Emotional Release: Many of us hold onto emotions and traumas in our bodies, which can manifest as physical tension or illness. 1:1 CCB sessions provides a safe space to release suppressed and stored emotions, allowing for healing and emotional clarity.

3. Increased Energy and Vitality: Deep, conscious breathing enhances oxygen flow throughout the body, boosting energy levels and improving mental clarity and focus.

4. Spiritual and Mind-Body Connection: CCB is not only a physical practice but also a spiritual journey. It deepens the connection between mind, body, and spirit, fostering a greater sense of self-awareness and inner peace.

WHAT DOES A CCB SESSION LOOK LIKE?

A CCB session begins with a discussion about goals and intentions for the session. We discuss any contraindications and outline all the possible sensations or emotions that may arise for you during the session. You will have opportunity to ask questions and Belinda will make sure you are completely comfortable to go ahead. 

We then settle in to a body scan meditation where we bring your attention inward, and start to pay attention to the breath. You will then be invited to begin breathing consciously and continuously, without pausing between inhalation and exhalation. We breathe along to a curated music playlist to assist your journey. This continuous breathing pattern helps to release physical tension, emotional blockages, and mental stress.

As the breath deepens you might experience tingling sensations or change in temperature through your body, this is totally safe, you might experience emotional releases in the form of tears, laughing, singing, movement, anything is possible and all is welcomed and encouraged

At times Belinda may use reiki and or apply gentle rhythmic motions to encourage and assist in the shifting and movement of stagnated energy. 

You will go through a pendulation of energy, slowly building charge in your body to a point of release (this looks very different to everybody), then we will slow the breathing down, and take time to integrate any new sensations or emotions that may have came to the surface.

We finish the session with a gentle meditation before slowly inviting you back into your physical body and the space, taking your time to integrate and discuss anything you want to share.  

It is a nice idea to spend some time in nature and give yourself moments to journal or reflect in the days following a session.
