Osteo Access Network Australia

Connecting osteos, reaching rural communities

Osteo Access Network Australia is a national network connecting osteopaths with rural and regional communities that currently have limited or no access to osteopathic care.

We exist to improve access to hands-on, preventative healthcare in smaller towns — while creating meaningful, flexible, and sustainable work for osteopaths who want to practise with purpose, balance, and community connection.

MISSION STATEMENT

Our mission is to improve access to osteopathic care in rural and regional Australia by connecting communities with supported, values-driven osteopaths — and by creating sustainable, flexible career pathways that prioritise wellbeing, collaboration, and genuine community impact.

Why we exist -

Across Australia, many rural and regional communities have little access to hands-on allied health care, and even less exposure to osteopathy as a preventative and whole-person approach to health.

At the same time, many osteopaths are experiencing burnout, competition, and rigid KPI-driven work structures — particularly in saturated city clinics — despite years of training and a strong desire to genuinely help people.

Osteo Access Network Australia exists to address both of these realities.

We believe:

  • access to quality care should not depend on postcode

  • osteopathy has an important role to play in rural and preventative healthcare

  • osteopaths deserve career pathways that are flexible, values-aligned, and sustainable

By removing logistical and structural barriers to rural work, we make it easier for osteopaths to step into meaningful community-based care — without carrying the burden alone.

HOW IT WORKS

We believe healthcare works best when people feel supported — practitioners and communities alike.
Osteo Access Network Australia exists to create access, connection, and care that lasts.

FOR OSTEOPATHS

Osteo Access Network Australia supports osteopaths to work in rural and regional settings without the usual stress and isolation that can come with outreach work.

Through the network, osteos are supported with:

  • shared systems and logistics

  • reduced admin and marketing load

  • flexible scheduling and location choice

  • mentoring, debriefing, and peer support

  • opportunities to educate, lead workshops, and share individual passions

Osteopaths choose how, where, and how often they work — whether that’s regular visits to one community alongside city practice, or supporting care while travelling more broadly.

We work as a collaborative network, sharing resources, knowledge, and experience so that individuals are supported and communities benefit.

FOR COMMUNITIES

We partner with rural and regional towns to support access to osteopathic care through visiting practitioner programs.

This may include:

  • regular or rotating osteopathy clinics

  • community education workshops

  • collaboration with existing health services

We work alongside local community leaders, health services, and organisations to build trust, continuity, and long-term relationships.

When communities are engaged and supported to rally local interest, we can sustainably increase the frequency and reach of care.
